Use a custom domain name
You can use a domain you own name with GoDaddy's URL shortener. This lets you create short, branded URLs to share on social media.
Which domain should I use?
The domain you use cannot have another website hosted on it. However, if you only have one domain name (or want to incorporate your business's primary domain name), you can set up the shortener on a subdomain (e.g. subdomain.coolexample.com).
We recommend having a domain name dedicated to your shortener, though. You can always register additional domain names on our site.
Set your domain
- Log in to the application (https://shortener.godaddy.com/) using your GoDaddy login information.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Click Add domain.
- Complete the on-screen fields, and then click Add Domain.
If the domain name you want to use is not in the same GoDaddy account, you need to configure its settings. For those instructions, click Help under the Enter domain name field.
- Shorten URLs and select your domain name from the Choose domain menu
